WELLINGTON CITY BUS HUB SHELTERS
As public transport use in Wellington surged, the Greater Wellington Regional Council (GWRC) introduced a new hub system to improve connections between key routes. These hubs were strategically placed to streamline passenger transfers and enhance the efficiency of the city’s transport network.
Designbrand provided consultancy services in the early stages of the project, conducting site research and visualizing potential solutions using its proprietary modular aluminium shelter system.
However, when GWRC opted for a design that incorporated more glass for improved visibility, they brought in Isthmus as the architectural lead. Metco Engineering, now the new owners of Designbrand, joined early in the detailed design phase. Leveraging their expertise in manufacturing and 3D problem-solving, they played a crucial role in turning the architect’s vision into reality.
